The Jean Monnet Center of Excellence of the University of Macedonia is organising a conference in the English language on “The Fight Against Corruption – OECD and EU Policies” on Friday, April 28th 2017 at 10.30-12.00 in the Conference Room of University of Macedonia, Egnatia 156, 1st floor.
The conference will begin with welcoming speeches from the Dean of the University of Macedonia, Mr. Achilleas Zapranis. A lecture by Mr. William Loo will follow on “The Role of the OECD on the combat of international corruption”. Mr. Loo is an Associate Professor and Senior Legal Counsel of the Department of Combat of Corruption, at the General Secretariat of Economic and Corporate Affairs of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). His main duties include the oversight of the implementation of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention. He is also in charge of the General Secretariat on the Greece-OECD project and Convention of Technical Support on anti-corruption. Before his work in OECD, Mr. Loo was a District Attorney at the Canadian Ministry of Justice.
Next, Associate Professor Mr. Dimitris Skiadas will speak on “The EU policy on the protection of its budgetary interests against corruption”. Mr. Skiadas teaches European Governance and Budgetary Law at the Department of international and European Studies (IES) at the University of Macedonia. A discussion coordinated by Assistant Professor of the same Department Ms. Despoina Anagnostopoulou will follow.
*The conference will be open to the public and it will be conducted in both the Greek and English language, and certificates of attendance will be given.
